A man was arrested for threatening the life of Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin.

49 year old Brian Stephen Vest was arrested at his home in Warrior, Alabama on Wednesday and charged with one felony count of making terrorist threats.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the arrest was made due to threats made on the mayor's life by phone on Monday, June 1.

Mayor Woodfin said extra safety precautions were being taken because of people who made threats over the removal of a Confederate monument in downtown Birmingham. He did not mention Vest's arrest.
