They’ve only recently started breaking ground at the new Protective Stadium. but we're still a good two years out before it's operational.

The 45,000 person capacity at Protective Stadium falls short of it's predecessor Legion Field, however Christina Frantom a BJCC spokesperson says there is room for growth, topping legion fields capacity at 75,000.

In anticipation for unprecedented turnout in Uptown, there will be additional parking sites created according to Frantom.

However police say with the increase in traffic, they will not be increasing patrol.

Birmingham resident Oru Moon, just moved back after being in Florida for three years.

She says in her time gone, she's seen change in Birmingham,

But she hopes the city recognizes a few things during the process.

"Recognizing what area you're moving into. Recognizing the people in that are in the area that you're moving into and recognizing you're role in that area and what you can do to make it more comfortable," said Moon.

One way the BJCC is doing this, they've created, basically a four block radius around the stadium for green spaces.

Allowing residents to enjoy the spaces 7 days a week.

Moon says she thinks that's a great step in the right direction but would like to see more interactive opportunities there.

"Community events, organizing events whatever, making these spaces, making things available for people who do live in these areas that actually come to these spaces, instead of making spaces that people can't go to or for who live in these areas," said Moon.

BJCC representatives say they are still considering different opportunities for the green spaces and want this to be a place all in Birmingham can enjoy.
