While cleaning out a home after serving an eviction in the Goodsprings area, the Walker County Sheriff's Office rescued 10 abandoned dogs.

Last Thursday, Investigator Carl Carpenter entered the home and found three adults dogs and seven puppies amid trash and feces. It was obvious the dogs had been neglected and living in poor conditions for quite some time. They were being left behind by the previous tenants behind a locked door.

After being saved by the sheriff's office, the animals will get medical evaluations and then find new families through the Walker County Humane Society and other organizations.

You can reach the Walker County Humane Society at (205) 388-8595.
