One mom in Central Ohio is getting national recognition for her hilarious back to school photos that show her celebrating the new school year.

Leslie Kemelgor, of Powell, says the photos started in 2013, when her daughters were in elementary school. The photos, which include creative scenes like Kemelgor getting a massage while the kids wear their backpacks, and the children frowning while their mom celebrates the school year by jumping in the air, have been received well on social media.

Kemelgor said the photos had an overwhelming response from friends and family on social media, so she continued every year, with each photo getting more and more elaborate.

"When we went outside to wait for the bus on the first day of school, my husband joked that it would be funny if I was jumping for joy while the kids looked mad that they had to go back to school. I posted that pic on Facebook and our family and friends thought it was really cute. So the next year we decided to do a different one," Kemelgor told ABC6/FOX28.

The mother of three says her kids now think she's a "cool mom," and her daughter Caroline has a ton of fun helping with each photo's concept and props.

"My children all have great senses of humor. And that’s really what I wanted when we kept this tradition going. To know that it’s ok to not always take ourselves so seriously," Kemelgor said.

Even though she may look happy in the photos, Kemelgor says she dreads the beginning of the school year.

"Even though these pictures are just in good fun, I actually really dread back to school. That saying “the days are long, but the years are short” is very true and I just want to soak up as much time with them as I can. I hope one day they’ll look back and get a good laugh at these pictures," Kemelgor said.

Her daughters are now in high school and middle school, and her son just started the third grade.
