'Gabrielle' restaurant finds home inside Charleston's luxury Hotel Bennett

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - — Doors recently opened on a new luxury hotel on King Street.

The land was originally part of the old Citadel.

In the 1950s it became the Charleston County Library.

Michael Bennett purchased the land with the goal of building the grand hotel that stands today.

Step inside and you are transported across the Atlantic where European Inspiration meets Charleston’s Charm.

Bennett says when planning the signature restaurant for the hotel, they wanted to do something unique, but also draw from old Charleston influence.

They were able to convince well known New Orleans chef, Michel Sichel to move to Charleston to help open up Gabrielle.

Chef Sichel’s menu includes Duck À L'orange, Hand-Grooved Potato Gnocchi, and Lamb Journey- lamb prepared four different ways.

Sichel prides himself of western European influence with local product and flair.

Gabrielle features the only outdoor dining terrace that opens to Marion Square.

Dinner entrees average around $30.
