ALBANY NY (WRGB) - For the third day in a row, someone has been shot in Albany.

Police say Monday night a 14-year-old told officers he was shot in the leg by an unknown suspect while walking in the area of Ontario Street and Benson Street.

They say the teen was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Albany has now recorded 56 shooting incidents this year, with 74 victims.

A spokesman for the police department says many are acts of retaliation.

“It’s certainly concerning. Like I’ve said before, what we have learned through a lot of our investigations is that these are incidents between people who know each other. They’re either individuals or groups that have some sort of conflict with each other and unfortunately they’re settling these conflicts with gun violence. Right now our investigators are working around the clock to try to determine who’s responsible,” said Officer Steve Smith.
