2 victims recovering after shooting in downtown Nashville, suspect arrested

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- Police arrested a man who is accused of shooting multiple people in downtown Nashville earlier this year.

Police say that Stephen Hughes, 30, was on the 170 block of 3rd Avenue North around 2 a.m. at Men of the Hour on Sept. 29 involved in multiple assaults.

Dancers from Men of the Hour had to physically removed Hughes and another suspect after police say they assaulted the manager. Hughes and the other suspect returned displaying handguns.

Hughes was hit in the face by the victim's son, causing him to drop the gun. He picked the gun back up and began to run away, according to a Metro police affidavit. While Hughes was running, he fired in the victims direction, striking one of the victims four times in the leg and the other victim once to the foot.

Both victims were treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Hughes is facing multiple charges of aggravated assault, he is lodged at the Davidson County jail.
