JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WZTV) — The USGS said a 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit North Carolina Sunday morning and shook parts of Virginia and Tennessee.
The quake hit around Sparta, N.C. at 8:07 a.m. EST. Earthquakes of magnitude 5 and above are considered moderate intensity, with widespread shaking often felt.
According to USGS, it could be felt in Tennessee, especially in the Johnson City area, and parts of Virginia.
