Middle Tennessee man charged with kidnapping, raping 12-year-old girl

DECATUR COUNTY. Tenn. (WZTV) — A Decatur County man has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and rape of a child.

Carlton M. Garland of Bath Springs is charged with raping a family member in early November on at least two occasions, documents obtained by Tennessee River Valley News said.

Those documents say that investigators were dispatched to a call regarding the rape of a 12-year-old girl.

Garland also reportedly locked the door to a bedroom with the victim inside to keep her from escaping. The suspect also reportedly covered the victims mouth to keep her from screaming as she tried to flee.

Garland was booked into the Decatur County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
