UPDATE: Metro Police said they have arrested a teenager in connection to a string of violent crimes against Lyft drivers.

A 17-year-old, who was wearing an anle monitor at the time from the Department of Children's Services, allegedly admitted his involvement in the crimes. He's since been arrested and charged in juvenile court with aggravated robbery, attempted criminal homicide, carjacking, and evading arrest. Additional charges regarding the robbery/sexual assault are pending.

In one case, a female Lyft driver was shot on Knowles Street during an attempted robbery. Another female Lyft driver was sexually assaulted on 11th Avenue North.

Police said the crimes started at about 6:45 p.m. when two suspects approached a Westin Hotel employee who was taking a break outside in the area of 9th Avenue South. The suspects, both wearing ski masks and one armed, robbed the employee of his cell phone and wallet.

The suspects then used the stolen cell phone to request a Lyft at 8:10 p.m. from the 1300 block of 9th Avenue North to Opry Mills Mall. Police said they didn't rob this Lyft driver, but another female Lyft driver picked up three young men from the Opry Mills Mall. The suspects again were using the stolen phone and the victim's Lyft account. The female Lyft driver drove them to the 1200 block of 11th Avenue North where Metro Police say she was robbed and sexually assaulted at gunpoint.

Later that night at about 10:45 p.m., a man told police that he was approached by a gunman in the 1600 block of Knowles Street and forced to drive and withdraw money from an ATM inside a Kroger at 800 Monroe Street.

The gunman then used the victim's cell phone and Lyft account to order another ride back to Knowles Street. Police say the gunman tried to rob the female driver by grabbing her by the throat and putting a gun to her head. She grabbed her chemical spray and began spraying the gunman, who shot her in the arm and foot.

The suspect then fled and ordered another rideshare in the 1600 block of Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard. Police said the gunman robbed the driver of his gray 2014 Honda Odyssey minivan with Tennessee license plate 9S84J8. That vehicle has not been recovered.

Anyone recognizing the two persons wanted for questioning in the attached surveillance photos is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Anyone seeing the Honda Odyssey minivan is asked to call the Department of Emergency Communications at 615-862-8600.
