UPDATE: (10/23/19)

A string of robberies in the west Nashville area has had people on edge, but now police have made an arrest.

Police say just before 11 p.m. last Thursday Abdi Adan and another person robbed the Shell gas station on Charlotte Avenue.

Then 3 minutes later he went to a Mapco down the road where he ripped the cash registers off the counter, getting away with about $10, while the other person stole lottery tickets.

The same vehicle and suspect description later showed up at a MapCo on Highway 70 South and robbed it. The two were driving in a new white pickup truck.

Police are still looking for the second person involved. Anyone who saw anything should call police.

Metro Police are looking for suspects after three west Nashville gas stations were robbed within minutes of each other late Thursday night.

The gas stations included a Shell, BP and Mapco at 6012 Charlotte Pike, 6509 Charlotte Pike and 7725 Highway 70 South.

Police said the robberies all occurred around 11 p.m. In two incidents, suspects demanded cash and cigarettes with their hands in their pockets, indicating that they were armed. In the third robbery, the suspect didn't make any demands but did steal cash from the register.

The suspects are described as three black males driving a white two-door Chevy truck with a black toolbox in the back. One suspect wore a green toboggan, gray hooded sweatshirt, black athletic shorts and tennis shoes. The other two suspects wore a blue hooded sweatshirt and a brown hooded sweatshirt.

Police say they have developed "strong leads" in the cases.
