NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Volunteers covered Music City Sunday, cleaning up graffiti left over from Saturday night’s rally.

Andrea Richardson organized one of the clean-ups Sunday. She said she attended Saturday’s peaceful protest, but left before the vandalism started. She said the broken windows and spray paint didn’t reflect what she and her friends stood for.

“That’s not okay,” Richardson said. “We don’t support that. You can’t treat Nashville this way.”

She also stopped to pray for police officers she met downtown.

“There’s a transformation coming to our city, and that’s going to start with us coming together as a family and as a unit,” Richardson said. “That’s what we’re about. That’s what the protest is about.”

Nashville resident Gianna Grondona was also helping clean graffiti off Music City Center.

“I love living here, and the last thing I want is to see graffiti on places that I think are some of my favorite,” Grondona said.

As Grondona was cleaning Music City Center with a friend, an employee from the building thanked her for their work, but said they have a special crew coming to clean off the graffiti, since some of the building’s surfaces will require special treatment.
