A brand new firearms safety campaign just launched for 2020. Pennsylvania State Police want to help those with firearms, protect themselves from any potential harm.

State police say the goal of the campaign is to provide communities with safety information and free gun locks.

They wish to avoid the chances of firearms ending up in the hands of individuals or children that might result in serious injuries and fatalities.

"Somebody who might have had firearms their whole life, now might have kids. They don't feel comfortable leaving their firearms around and if they might have them high up so kids cant reach them. This is a safe way that they can lock their guns and not having to put them in the chamber," explains Trooper Anthony Petrowski.

Residents in Pennsylvania can visit any of their local state police barracks to pick up a free lock.
