A fire ripped through a Boise Bench home early Wednesday afternoon just before 2 p.m.

Boise Fire says the fire, located near Overland Road and Columbus, started in a shed in the backyard and then eventually spread inside the home and a second shed.

A witness told CBS 2 News reporter Kristen McPeek that they went into the home and alerted children, a baby and a woman.

No injuries were reported and crews are still on scene determining a cause.

Boise Fire told members of the media that gusty winds made fighting the fire a challenge. Boise Police were on scene directing traffic because visibility was low.

"Due to the wind advisory and rapidly expanding fire we did request some additional engines to respond," said Boise Fire Battalion Chief Tom Moore. "Anytime there’s a strong wind the fire behavior is enhanced, so fire spreads more rapidly with the stronger winds, so that definitely did play a part in today’s fire."

One eye witness saw the smoke while driving and came to help.

Maynard said that he helped out four kids, a baby and their mother. He also says that the fire was just on the other side of the kid's bedrooms and engulfed them shortly after they got out.
