Boise man accused of leading police on 3 county chase, having cocaine, meth and LSD in car

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A Boise man was arrested Friday after police say he led police on a car chase that went through three counties.

According to officials, a large amount of cash, a stolen firearm, 10 plus pounds of marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, mushrooms and LSD were recovered.

Jarred Butler, 36, was arrested on Highway 41 after a multi-county chase, and charged with possession of controlled substances, felon in possession of a firearm, felony eluding, trafficking controlled substances, resisting/obstructing arrest, possession of stolen property, and a felony arrest warrant.

Authorities say Butler led Idaho State Police troopers on a car chase that started in Spokane County, crossed into Kootenai County, and entered Bonner County northbound on SH41 from Spirit Lake. Bonner County Sheriff's Office deputies were called in to help ISP.

The suspected vehicle was reported as a BMW that was traveling on one flat tire. BCSO deputies found the vehicle and used spike strips in the Blanchard area, and they were able to flatten two more tires.

The suspect continued to drive erratically on SH41 at speeds between 35-70 mph. The BMW crossed the center line several times, forcing oncoming traffic to pull to the side of the road.

BCSO said the driver was a threat to the public as the BMW approached the City of Oldtown. Officers made the decision to use a PIT maneuver to end the pursuit.

The driver got out and ran, but was chased down and caught.
