BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) - Rachel Forest from Pocatello won the title of Miss Idaho at the Nampa Civic Center on Saturday, June 8th and has since resigned her position as Miss Idaho 2019 to pursue an educational opportunity.

She will be transferring from UCLA to attend Columbia University in the fall.

Executive Director, Christi van Ravenhorst said, “As a scholarship organization for young women, we value higher education and fully support candidates pursuing their educational and career goals. As such, we support the decision of Miss Forest and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

Stepping into the position of Miss Idaho 2019 will be First Runner-Up, Grace Zimmerman, who held the local title of Miss Western Idaho.

Miss Zimmerman is from Weiser and the daughter of Dion and Dawn Zimmerman.

She is currently in her third year at the University of Idaho as a student in the College of Business and Economics.

Miss Zimmerman is a member of Delta Gamma sorority, the Moscow Central Lions Club, and a volunteer with the Moscow Mentor Program.

She learned that she would be assuming the role of Miss Idaho from Executive Director, Christi van Ravenhorst and Board President, Stacy Pittman.

Miss Zimmerman commented, “To say I am feeling blessed would be an understatement. After spending the past week competing alongside some of the most charismatic, driven, and talented women, I walked away feeling more proud than ever of this organization and they way it shapes women into stronger versions of themselves. As Miss Idaho, I am thrilled at the opportunity to represent my fellow candidates, our Miss Idaho organization, and the state of Idaho.”

Since 2017, Miss Idaho has awarded over $100,000 in cash scholarships.

Miss Zimmerman will receive $7,000 in scholarship as Miss Idaho.

A public celebration on her behalf is being planned and information will be released once details are confirmed.

Throughout this year, Miss Zimmerman will attend community events and appearances as she pursues her social impact initiative, ‘Wholesome Health.’ Additionally, she will spend the summer preparing for the Miss America Competition.

The Miss Idaho Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that awards annual college scholarships to women in the state of Idaho.
