Friday is the virtual "Walk for Wishes" benefitting Make-A-Wish Idaho.

Unlike past events, people will be sharing their walks online. But, the goal is the same: Have fun and to help children battling life-threatening illnesses.

One of those kids, Isaac Coe, lives in Boise. He is waiting for his wish to come true. Like many others, his wish was delayed by COVID-19.

Isaac and his family will be bringing the spirit of Isaac's wish with them on their walk tonight.

When they got the call from Make-A-Wish Idaho they knew exactly what he wanted.

"He's always wanted to meet John Cena and some of the other WWE wrestlers," said Isaac's mother, Amy. "He's a huge wrestling fan."

The whole family was set to go to WrestleMania in Tampa, Florida in April.

"About two or three weeks before we were set to leave, the pandemic happened," said Amy. "Obviously it's not canceled. His wish is not canceled. It's just postponed for now."

Isaac lives with a seizure disorder and is developmentally delayed.

"Explaining to him why we couldn't go, that was probably the hardest part of it all," said Amy.

Whether he's in his room, watching WWE on TV, or doing a school project, wrestling is a major part of Isaac's life.

"As a family, we can tell you all the wrestlers, all the moves, we've just had to learn it to support him," said Amy. "You know there's a lot of things he can't do because of his disabilities but this is just one thing since he was little he has just shown such a love for."

But his favorite wrestler is, of course, John Cena. So ahead of tonight's walk Isaac's older brother Dalton drew Cena with chalk as part of the event's sidewalk art competition.

As they walk the Boise green belt to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish Idaho, they'll be wearing the shirts they would have worn to WrestleMania this spring.

"They say 'never give up' which is one of John Cena's mottos. And so we thought that was really fitting especially for today to wear for the walk," Amy said "We're all going to wear these when we do get to go to WrestleMania and we're hopeful for next year."

There's still time to go online and sign up for the "Walk for Wishes" event.
