BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The body of a driver who crashed near an eastern Idaho canal has been found 11 days after the initial crash.
Idaho State Police says the driver of a Chevy Impala crashed near a canal on Highway 20 north of Idaho Falls Aug. 1.
Rescue crews were unable to find the driver in the area.
Over the next several days, police, fire, and others searched the canal and surrounding fields using thermal imaging a grid search as well as the Idaho Falls Fire Department aerial boom ladder.
It wasn't until Wednesday when the Bonneville County Search and Rescue found a body matching the description of the driver about a mile downstream from the crash scene.
The driver, who has not been identified, was found in the swift current and was covered in thick brush and trees.
"The Idaho State Police share our sincere condolences with the involved family," ISP said.
