Investigators in Idaho County say remains found earlier this month could belong to Boise man, who went missing in the area, in 2017.

Idaho County Sheriff's Office tells CBS2 a woman found a left hand on a riverbank near where 54-year-old Randy French went missing in June 2017.

Investigators responded and found the hand still attached to the ulna by remaining skin and ligaments.

The ulna is the thinner and longer of the two bones in the forearm, opposite to the thumb.

Idaho County Sheriff's Detective Jerry Johnson says the remains are consistent with someone who has been missing for about three years. Randy French went missing in 2017 while on a fishing trip in the Riggins area.

The Boise resident was last seen on June 29 of that year in the parking lot of the Salmon Rapid’s Lodge in Riggins.

His truck wasn't there the next day at 5 a.m. according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators are holding off on a positive ID. The remains are being looked at by experts at the University of North Texas' Center for Human Identification.
