The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado about 14 miles east of Mountain Home, ID today around 3:40pm MDT.

This is about 50 miles southeast of the Boise airport. The National Weather Service says this is the 3rd confirmed tornado in Idaho this year.

Earlier this afternoon, areas of the Treasure Valley were seeing severe weather including tornado warnings and thunderstorms.

A tornado warning was issued in the area of Hammett until 4:15 Monday afternoon. Meanwhile a severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect in Elmore and Owyhee counties until 4:30 p.m.

The severe weather was capable of causing wind gusts of up to 60 mph with quarter size hail. People in the area were urged to take cover immediately.
