Another round of active weather is heading our way for the weekend, however, this time we won't see snow here in the Treasure Valley. A milder storm system is pushing onshore along the West Coast this morning, it will arrive in southwest Idaho early Saturday morning.

Moving in from the southwest, temperatures are expected to remain too warm to see snowfall in the lower valleys, snow levels are forecast to remain above 4,000 feet overnight and rise to 5,000 feet Saturday. A decent amount of moisture will move into the region with most mountain areas expected to see 6-10 inches of snowfall with localized amounts of 12+ inches above 8,000 feet through Sunday. Dry weather is expected to return early next week.

Computer models have struggled with snowfall amounts in the Long Valley, sitting at roughly 5,000 feet, where temperatures are forecast to remain at or just above freezing during the daytime hours. I think we'll see several inches of new snow along the mountain valleys over the weekend, regardless of the totals, be prepared for some wintry weather as you head out. Stay up to date with the latest of the forecast here.
