People gathered in Mayors Square for the annual holiday tree lighting Friday night.

The Gresham High School Overtones sang songs and Santa even made an appearance.

The Goodsell family said it’s one event they never miss.

“I really like coming out here, getting really nice and cold and then having some hot chocolate and warming up with the family and talking about the experience and having a good time with them,” said Gabrielle Goodsell.

They got to sip on free cider and cocoa as they braved some pretty strong winds out of the Columbia River Gorge.

Also out there was KATU Meteorologist and Troutdale resident Dave Salesky, who helped emcee the event.
