Disabled man assaulted outside Stayton Bi-Mart, police seek suspect

STAYTON, Ore. – Officers are asking for help finding an assault suspect who allegedly punched a 60-year-old disabled man outside of a Bi-Mart store, Stayton Police said.

The incident happened on Thursday morning, March 26 at the Bi-Mart on Shaff Road.

Witnesses told officers that a man in his 20s assaulted a 60-year-old man who is disabled, leaving him with “serious physical injuries to the left side of his face.” The injured man was taken to Santiam Hospital for treatment.

Police said the attack was unprovoked.

The suspect took off before police arrived on-scene. Witnesses said he was a white man in his early 20s with short blonde hair, a thin build, and between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11-inches tall.

At the time he was wearing dark pants and a dark shirt or jacket, “possibly Carhartt style.”

The suspect took off in a dark-colored 90’s Volvo wagon with Oregon plates that might have “849” as the number.
