WOODBURN, Ore. – A 19-year-old DUII suspect is in the hospital after troopers say he crashed into a power pole along Highway 99E near Woodburn early Wednesday morning, knocking out power in the area for about two hours.

The crash was reported at about 2:45 a.m. near milepost 30 along Highway 99E.

Initial reports state that Efren Arellano-Contreras was heading north in a pickup when he drifted off the roadway and hit a power pole, knocking down the lines.

He was taken to the hospital with crash-related injuries; he’s expected to survive.

Oregon State Police said Arellano-Contreras will face DUII, reckless driving, and second-degree criminal mischief.
