Dutch Bros Coffee's annual "Drink One for Dane" event is going digital during the coronavirus pandemic.

The yearly fundraiser supports the ongoing fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

For the first time in its history, Dutch Bros is selling an exclusive stainless steel travel mug and sticker combination online for the cause. They say $10 from every mug and sticker sold will support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and its efforts to provide research and clinical care for the ALS community to find a cure for the disease.

The mug and sticker combination will go on sale Friday, May 8.

Also on Friday, a portion of proceeds from sales at Dutch Bros shops will also go to the organization.

Drink One for Dane honors Dane, a cofounder of Dutch Bros. He died from ALS in 2009 and since then, the Dutch Bros. community has rallied in his honor.

"During this unprecedented time, raising a toast to my brother, the wiseman, is one way to share hope," Travis Boersma said, Dutch Bros co-founder and CEO.

Dutch Bros originated in Oregon. Two brothers, Dane and Travis, started the company in Grants Pass in 1992. It’s since grown significantly and now has shops in seven states.

ALS is a fatal disease that affects the parts of the nervous system that are responsible for muscle movement. As it progresses, patients slowly lose their ability to control these movements, including speaking, breathing and moving while having full cognitive ability. Currently, there is no cure.
