UPDATE: Marion County sheriff's deputies said they found Gerald Gibson safe. He'll be taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Original story:

SUBLIMITY, Ore. -- An 84-year-old man went missing in Marion County overnight Sunday, and the sheriff's office is asking for help finding him.

Gerald Gibson was last seen about 8 p.m. Sunday when he went for a walk near the Marion Estates in Sublimity. He never returned home, officials said.

Gibson has dementia, walks with a cane, and has other health concerns.

Deputies describe Gibson as about 5-foot 10-inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue and white checkered shirt, blue jeans, a tan sweater and a green hat when he went missing.

If you see him, call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at (503) 588-5032 or 911.

The city of Stayton said Monday evening that deputies are searching for Gibson in that town on foot and from the air using a helicopter.
