Jury sentences Troutdale man to 12 years in prison for attempting to murder three teens

PORTLAND, Ore. – A Multnomah County jury sentenced a Troutdale man to 12 years in prison Friday for attempting to murder three people inside a home in October 2017.

According to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, the jury found 27-year-old Jorge Beltran guilty of three counts of attempted aggravated murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. The jury also found Beltran is subject to an enhanced penalty for using a firearm during the commission of a felony.

At the trial, the state presented evidence that showed that the evening of Oct. 14, 2017 and the early morning of Oct. 15, 2017, Beltran shot into the bedroom of an occupied home in the 2100 block of Southeast 185th Avenue in Gresham.

At the time of the incident, the three victims were 16, 17, and 18 years old. The teens were inside watching a show when Beltran fired five rounds form outside the home.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Beltran had barged into the home before the shooting and was involved in an altercation with one of the teens. The other two teens chased him out of the house.

During the trial, the state showed evidence that Beltran returned to the home with a pistol and started shooting at the building.
