K9 tracks burglary suspect accused of assaulting woman, stealing motorhome near Salem

SALEM, Ore. – A burglary suspect was arrested Sunday morning, accused of assaulting a woman and stealing a motorhome from a property southeast of Salem.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was called out at about 9:45 a.m. on reports of a burglary in progress on Sky Lane Southeast.

Deputies arrived to find that the suspect had hit a woman with a flashlight before driving off in her motorhome. No word on the extent of injuries to the victim.

Investigators found the motorhome hidden behind some brush in the 8000 block of Smith Road Southeast.

A K9 team started tracking the suspect at about 10:30 a.m. and ended up finding Bryce Mason-McCauley, 29, of Salem hiding in some bushes about a half hour later.

Mason-McCauley was booked into the Marion County Jail on a parole violation.

Authorities later added charges of first and second-degree burglary, second-degree assault, criminal mischief, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle.
