Missing Molalla woman found dead near Scotts Mills after extensive search

MOLALLA, Ore. - A Molalla woman suffering from a bipolar disorder and missing for nearly two weeks was found dead Thursday, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

Searchers found 62-year-old Janice Lynn Ernest's body at about 3 p.m. near Butte Creek Road outside Scotts Mills, the sheriff's office said.

She was last seen Friday, March 14 by a couple in the area who were working on some property. Ernest was reported missing Sunday, March 16.

It was believed she was off her medications.

Her car was found abandoned on Butte Creek Road on Sunday, March 23.

"The Sheriff's Office offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Ernest. We also want to thank the volunteers who donated many hours to this search," the sheriff's office said in a statement Thursday night.

The sheriff's office said there were no signs of foul play.

The sheriff's office also credited tips from the public in helping find Ernest.
