UPDATE:

In a tweet Tuesday night, police in Salem said tipsters helped them identify the man, but police provided no more information.

Original story:

SALEM, Ore. – Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who was acting suspiciously at the Wal-Mart store on Commercial Street Southeast in Salem.

According to police, he approached a woman at the store on January 10 asking for help, grabbed her, and tried to lead her to his vehicle.

She managed to get away from the man with the help of store employees. Officials said they intervened when the woman “made eye contact with them.”

Witnesses said the man was average height, with a stocky build. He was driving a 2000’s green pickup without license plates.

If you have any helpful information, call Salem police at (503) 588-8477.
