PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Fire and Rescue’s Arson Unit arrested a man Thursday who they believe set a house on fire in Northeast Portland and committed burglaries in Troutdale.

The arson unit arrested 23-year-old Joshua Robert Jackson. He was wanted in connection to two break-ins in the Troutdale area. Investigators also identified Jackson as an arson suspect in connection to a house fire at 725 NE Jessup St. Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday, fire officials say a good Samaritan saw Jackson in the Hayden Island area and recognized him from a news story that identified him as a suspect in the Troutdale break-ins. The person called police.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested Jackson on charges of first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, and second-degree criminal mischief.
