PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) – Hundreds of people gathered at Portland’s Waterfront Park Saturday for a worship service.

Organizers of the “Let Us Worship” event say it was held to fill Portland prayer and love “to change the narrative” of the city.

Images from the event show that most of those in attendance were not wearing masks or face coverings.

According to the Oregon Health Authority, outdoor gatherings in Multnomah County are limited to 50 people-- even if the event is faith-based.

In a post about the “Let Us Worship” events, Christian singer Sean Fuecht, who performed at the event, spoke out against coronavirus restrictions that have stalled church services.

“It’s time for the Church to rise up with one voice and tell our government leaders and the rulers of big tech that we refuse to be silenced!” Fuecht said on his website.

We have reached out to Portland Police and Governor Kate Brown's office about this event, and we have not heard back.

Speakers at the event say they will be out at waterfront park every night for at least a month.
