PORTLAND, Ore. – Family and friends are asking for help from the community days after a University of Portland student went missing.

Hundreds gathered at the school’s campus Thursday night for a prayer vigil for Owen Klinger, who was last seen leaving his dormitory at about 7:30 p.m. October 6.

He hasn't contacted family or friends since.

Those who know Klinger are worried about his well-being. Volunteers have posted flyers near the campus, but to no avail.

Organizers say there were nearly 400 people who came to support their fellow classmate, student and friend. They prayed for Owen's safe return and tried offering comfort to those who are struggling with his disappearance.

Klinger’s parents say TriMet video shows Owen walking alongside the bus at Portsmouth and Lombard at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday-- his very last known whereabouts.

The family says there was no indication he was struggling mentally or emotionally.

"That makes us even more concerned, if there's something we didn't know about him that he doesn't want us to know, it doesn't matter, we just love him and want him back," said Owen's mother, Mary Klinger.

Klinger is described as 6-feet 1-inch tall and weighing about 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light-blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and a drawstring backpack. (See photo below.)

Anyone with helpful information is asked to call the school’s public safety department at (503) 943-7161 or the Portland Police Bureau at (503) 823-3333.
