PORTLAND, Ore. – Thousands are expected to gather downtown on Sunday for the annual Portland Pride Parade, a celebration of all of the vibrant facets of the local LGBTQ+ community.
The 2019 Portland Pride Parade is set to start at 11 a.m. Sunday (June 16) on West Burnside at Park Avenue, coursing from the northwest park blocks to the Pride Festival grounds in Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
The roughly mile-long route makes a left on Broadway into the Old Town/Chinatown District and a right on Davis Street before heading south on Naito Parkway to the festival.
There are more than 170 groups signed up to participate in the parade, and parade organizers from Pride Northwest said they expect more than 50,000 people in attendance at the parade.
They say Pride events have been a part of Portland’s history since the mid-1970s, and that the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade have grown to be one of the largest Pride celebrations on the west coast.
