A woman says more should have been done to get a sex assault suspect accused of attacking strangers off the streets.

She says the same man tried to come after her months ago.

Alfredo Guzman, 24, was arrested this week, accused of breaking into a Wood Village woman’s home Sunday morning and sexually assaulting her.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Guzman is connected to both cases.

“That woman and her kid are going to be scarred for life from this,” the woman, who asked not to be identified, said about the Wood Village case. “It’s not something that’s just going to go away.”

The woman said she was victimized by Guzman last spring.

“I was sitting on my couch here in the family room, and I heard my front handle jiggling,” she said.

The woman said Guzman was outside her door touching himself in a sexual way.

“He looked directly at me and told me he needed to open the door because of what he needed to do to me,” the woman told KATU.

She said she called 911. Deputies confirmed Guzman was arrested and charged with indecent exposure.

“I was terrified to walk past my front door at night after that incident,” the woman said. “I’m extremely happy to know that he’s behind bars, but I’m also extremely angry.”

She wonders if things could have turned out differently.

“I just feel like they really didn’t make a very big deal about what happened here, and I think things like that should be taken more seriously. And I think what happened to that woman could have been prevented,” she said.

In the most recent case, Guzman faces 27 charges, including sex abuse and burglary.
