PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pickles are opening tryouts to the community as they finalize their roster before traveling to play in Mexico.

The Pickles are inviting anyone who’s interested to try out Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 6-9 p.m. at Walker Stadium.

All baseball players and fans are invited to attend the try outs.

The winning player will join Pickles greats Joey Cooper, Zander Clark, Bobby Kinne, Daniel Lopez and others as they travel to Mexico to play the Mazatlan Venados on Oct. 9 in front of a crowd of about 16,000 people. This is the first time the two teams will play in the Friendship Series.

At tryouts, athletes will compete in several drills to show off their hitting, pitching and fielding skills. Pickles coaches and front office staff will decide who will join the team.

Participants are encouraged to bring a glove and water to the tryout.

The winning participant will receive one round-trip flight from Portland to Mazatlan, a round-trip shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and a shared hotel room at The Royal Villas. They will also play in the game at Estadio Teodoro Mariscal with the Pickles on Oct. 9.
