Hot Springs police investigating shooting, 1 dead, 1 arrest

Hot Springs police are investigating a shooting that happened Saturday night.

Police say it occurred at 315 N. Patterson St.

They were dispatched to the scene around 7:20 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a female inside the residence with a gunshot wound, said the news release.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified a male, 42-year-old Levar Strickland at the scene, who was arrested and transported to the Police Department.

Strickland faces charges of criminal use of a prohibited weapon and possession of a defaced firearm.

He is at the Garland County Detention Center with a $100,000 bond.

Authorities say the investigation is on-going and detectives are interviewing witnesses.
