A man is facing criminal charges after an investigation into illegal gambling at two Springdale convenience stores.

KATV content partner 5NEWS reports that 32-year-old Mark Calhoun turned himself in on Thursday for two counts of accomplice to keeping a gambling house.

According to authorities, patrons of Kings Korner and Kings Xpress have been allowed to enter the store and play casino-style slot machines and turn their winnings in for cash.

"The system was no different than a player inside an actual casino," said Lt. Jeff Taylor, Springdale police spokesman.

An arrest report states that police raided the stores on Thursday morning, seizing 31 gambling machines, paper evidence, and computer records documenting the operation.

According to state and county propery records, both stores are owned by Glen and Tammie Calhoun.

Store employees stated that Calhoun was the person who typically removed the money from the gambling machines.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Calhoun is set to be in Washington County Circuit Court on July 22.
