A deadly shooting Tuesday in Pine Bluff marked the city's fourth homicide in the past three days.

The shooting happened in the 2800 block of West 40th Street, a residential area east of Old Warren Road.

When police arrived on scene, they reported hearing yelling and screaming coming from inside the home. The victim, identified as Jamonte Smith, 20, was found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound.

Smith was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following the shooting, officers spoke with the victim's girlfriend, Lecole Wilson, 20.

A short while later, Wilson was arrested for shooting and killing Smith.

According to the report, officers executed a search warrant of the house where they found a .22 caliber handgun they believe to be the murder weapon.

Wilson is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

The killing comes after Corey Pitts, 26, was fatally shot Monday night in the 2800 block of South Poplar Street.

Two other men were killed Sunday. Raymond Buchanan, 29, was shot to death in the 1900 block of South Amis Street. Antonio Brown, 36, was fatally shot in the 2600 block of Fir Street. That shooting left three other people injured.

This makes the city's 16th homicide in 2018.
