An Arkansas investment firm has purchased the Doctors Building in midtown Little Rock for $16.5 million.

The firm, Natural Capital, announced the purchase in a news release Monday. The sale of the 220,000-square-feet building at 500 S. University Avenue was first reported by KATV content partner Talk Business & Politics.

The release says the firm has immediate plans to renovate the building, which is home to medical offices and clinics. Current tenants of the building will remain.

The building is part of an area just north of Interstate 630 where a multi-million dollar redevelopment is planned. It used to be the site of a Sears department store.
