LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Little Rock leaders encourage residents to help federal employees in need, as the partial government shutdown approaches a month.
According to the Clinton National Airport, more than 500 federal employees in the Little Rock area will likely miss another paycheck this week, which will cause more financial struggles.
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., City Director Kathy Webb, Chairman Jesse Mason of the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission and Airport Executive Director Ron Mathieu gathered at the airport on Sunday to announce plans for Little Rock Cares, a two-day, citywide donation drive for federal employees.
The two-day event will be Tuesday, January 22 and Wednesday, January 23 at various locations across Little Rock.
Leaders urge residents to help those in need by helping people every day.
Drop-off locations are sponsored by Clinton National Airport, The City of Little Rock, Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, and Arkansas Food Bank.

An account has been set up with the Arkansas Community Foundation for monetary donations. The goal is provide grants for federal employees to pay their bills during the shut down.
