A Little Rock man was arrested on Tuesday night after police say he left his 10-year-old son in a hot car as punishment.

According to a report from the Little Rock Police Department, officers responded to the Applebee’s on Chenal Parkway around 8:20 p.m. for a family disturbance.

Witnesses told police they saw a man kicking his son under a table while hitting him in the genitals and cursing at him. They said the man, later identified as 41-year-old Briton Odell Miller, then got angry and took his son outside.

Video surveillance showed Miller grabbing the boy by his arm and pushing him by his head to the car. He then made him get into the car and told him to “act right."

Witnesses said that the windows were rolled up and the engine was off, and Miller walked back inside the restaurant.

The boy’s 12-year-old brother told police that they both got put in the car as punishment on a regular basis.

The police report states that no other injuries were visible on either child. They were released to Miller’s girlfriend.

Miller was booked into the Pulaski County jail and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

A report was filed with the child abuse hotline following the investigation.
