Police: Little Rock woman fatally shot boyfriend, said it was accidental

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — One man is dead after Little Rock police say his girlfriend accidentally shot him.

Around 11:47 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a home in the 8900 block of Merrivale Drive for a shooting that had just occurred.

A 34-year-old woman told 911 dispatch that she had accidentally shot her boyfriend, 30-year-old Gary Maxwell.

Maxwell was pronounced dead and the woman was taken into custody.

His body was taken to the crime lab for an autopsy.

After an investigation, the woman was released without charges pending a file review.

According to police, Maxwell’s next of kin has been notified.
