Little Rock police have identified the victim in Sunday's deadly shooting at an apartment complex as 22-year-old Anthony Curenton.

Authorities found Curenton's behind the Terra Vista Apartments with multiple gunshot wounds just after 1 p.m.

At the time, Curenton's mother, Angelia Williams, was driving back from Pine Bluff when she learned of the grave news.

"All I see is yellow tape, that's all I know, yellow tape all around that apartment," Williams said.

Curenton's biological father, who lives just around the corner from the apartment complex, was able to see his son's body. Williams, however was unable to since police tape prevented anyone from freely exploring the scene. Family and friends consoled Williams as she fought back frustration, grief and the strong desire to trespass the yellow tape and see Curenton.

"Grieving is hard but I just want to know what happened for my baby laying on the ground like that and they wouldn't let me see him," Williams said.

Curenton lived with his girlfriend at the Terra Vista Apartments for about six months. Williams heard her son had an argument with his girlfriend on Sunday, which followed up with a visit by the girlfriend's father.

It's unclear what happened beyond that but what is clear are the memories of a young man who loved life.

"Keeping a smile on his face -- he loved his family. He loved his mother, especially. He called me everyday," Williams said.

She has a message for the killer.

"Be a woman or man about it and just tell the truth," Williams said.

A mother now sits on the couch of the family house surrounded by pictures of her only boy, wondering.

"He wasn't a bad kid. He did stupid stuff but it just hurts that's all. Like I say, it hurts."

Little Rock police have interviewed witnesses and combed through apartment surveillance video.

Police currently have not released suspect information.
