North Little Rock police are investigating a jewelry store theft that happened Friday afternoon.

Officers responded to the theft at Jewels-N-More inside McCain mall around 3 p.m.

An employee told police that around 2:40 p.m., a man approached the counter and asked to see a gold Figergo chain necklace with a diamond cut that was sitting on a tray.

She said that she took out the tray, which was holding two 10K gold diamond cut Figergo chains valued at $1,800 and $1,400 along with five smaller gold chains valued at $300 each.

The estimated total of the jewelry is $4,700, according to a police report.

The employee told police that the man began looking at the jewelry and picked up the tray. When she tried to take the tray from him, he took it and ran through the mall towards the movie theater exit. She tried to follow him, but he was gone.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8 black man wearing a dark-colored windbreaker.
