Police identify victim in Little Rock homicide

Little Rock police have identified a man who was fatally shot Saturday night, said the police department in a press release.

Police were responding to a call about a stolen vehicle, which was found in the 3200 block of Ludwig Street after a disturbance involving a weapon that led to a shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene, around 7:13 p.m., they found a man later identified as 39-year-old Chesrick Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Police performed life-saving measures on Martin until MEMS arrived at the scene. He was taken to Baptist Hospital where he died from his injuries.

According to the release, a teen arrived at Children'sHosptial who told them he had been gazed by a gunshot. Investigators believe his injuries are related to the shooting on Ludwing Street.

Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation and interviewed witnesses.

Mr. Martin’s vehicle was towed to the Crime Scene Bay to be further evaluated by detectives. His body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The homicide occurred in Little Rock’s Northwest Division and authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
