Finally, Little Rock is one step closer to opening a Trader Joe's!

City spokeswoman Stephanie Jackson said plans for the store were reviewed and approved last week.

A building alteration application was filed in July for 11500 Financial Centre Parkway, the former site of a Toys "R" Us.

Among the planned alterations is a "Trader Joe's top" and "general grocery store fixtures," according to the application.

Trader Joe's confirmed in May that the grocery chain had been looking at locations in Little Rock.

Fans of the grocery chain in Arkansas have been asking for years that it come to the state. The chain focuses on its own Trader Joe's brand products, many of which have a cult-like following.

A Facebook group named "Bring Trader Joe's to Little Rock, AR" has been around since October 2012.

There are currently 488 stores nationwide in 41 states and in Washington, D.C.
