Arkansas State University and the University of Miami have settled their lawsuit over a football game that was canceled during the 2017 season.

Under a settlement, the universities agreed that Miami will pay Arkansas State $400,000 and the canceled game will not be rescheduled.

“I am pleased that both lawsuits have been resolved and that this matter is now behind us,” said Brad Phelps, general counsel for the Arkansas State University System. “I believe this is a fair resolution of these issues.”

Originally, Arkansas State was asking for $650,000, an amount based on a contract signed between the universities in 2013, which included costs for liquidated damages, attorney fees, and court costs.

The original game was scheduled for Sept. 9, 2017, but was canceled as a hurricane approached Florida, reported content partner KAIT.
