Burlington PD make arrest in 2017 murder case

Dennis Kramer, Chief of Police with the Burlington Police Department announced in a press release on Friday the arrest of 28-year-old Andre Harris.

Harris was taken into custody by the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Apprehension Task Force (U.S. Marshals). Andre Harris has since been extradited from Illinois to Burlington, Iowa where he was served with two Des Moines County warrants charging him with Murder in the 1st Degree and Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony.

The warrants stem from the September 10, 2017 death of Demarcus Antonio Chew. The investigation into the death of Demarcus Chew is still ongoing by the Burlington Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Andre Harris is being held on a $2,000,000.00 bond pending a court appearance.
