TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) —  Tigard police are investigating the second “stranger danger” case in 2 weeks after a child said a man offered a ride home near Templeton Elementary School.

Police said the attempted luring happened Thursday afternoon at SW 92nd and Inez. A man in a white van asked the student if they needed a ride home, just like another incident near Mary Woodward Elementary School on January 3.

In both cases, the child ran away to safety.

Parents are taking this as a reminder to talk to their kids about safety and being aware of their surroundings.

“It’s an unfortunate part of life and something we have to deal with,” Templeton parent Stephen Price said. “We’ve had that conversation in the last few months and it’s something we’ll have to now do again.”

While the 2 recent incidents are similar and happened a few miles apart, police don’t know for sure if they’re connected.
